How to troubleshoot add-in initialisation/connectivity issues

Overview

If you’re experiencing issues with the Active Workpapers add-in in Excel, such as it not loading or connecting correctly, please follow the steps below to help resolve the issue.

Why this happens

Connectivity issues with the add-in can sometimes occur due to network settings, outdated components, incorrect loading procedures, or browser settings that affect the add-in’s connection to the Business Fitness platform.

Steps to resolve

  1. Check if the add-in is visible in Excel

    • If the add-in is missing or not loading, open Excel, go to File > Options > Add-ins, and check if it appears under My Add-ins.
  2. Open a binder from the Active Platform

    • The add-in must be initialized by opening a binder directly from the Active Platform. If you attempt to load the add-in in a blank Excel workbook, it may not connect properly. To ensure the add-in loads correctly, please launch it through an active binder.
  3. Whitelist Business Fitness URLs

    • Ensure your IT team has whitelisted the following URLs, as these are required for the add-in to communicate with the platform:
      • General Access
        • https://my.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://dataverse-api.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://identity.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://esp.aptrinsic.com/
      • Active Workpapers Specific
        • https://workpapers.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://workpapers-addin.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://workpapers-api.businessfitness.com.au
      • Ledger & Reporting
        • https://ledger.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://ledger-addin.businessfitness.com.au
        • https://identity.businessfitness.com.au
      • Documents
        • https://activecollaboration.sharepoint.com/
  4. Reinstall the add-in

    • If the add-in still does not load correctly, please try reinstalling it:
      • Open Excel and go to File > Get Add-ins.
      • Locate any Active add-ins under My Add-ins and select Remove.
      • Reinstall the add-in by searching for Active Workpapers Add-in under the Store tab.
  5. Reinstall Edge WebView2

    • The Active Workpapers add-in uses Edge WebView2 to function properly. Please download the latest version of Edge WebView2 from Microsoft’s website, choosing the Fixed Version option if possible.
  6. Check browser settings

    • Make sure that pop-ups and cookies are enabled in your default browser (usually Microsoft Edge). These settings are essential for the add-in to authenticate and connect properly.
